1984 Audi Coupe GT

1984 was one of the strange years for the Coupe. It changed to the multispoke Ronal wheels and received a new rear spoiler raised off of the trunk (as used in the later models). The '84 dash was also unique to that model year.

As far as I can tell, it also incorporated a running change from the 2144cc CIS engine to the 2226cc CIS-E engine used in the '85 Coupe GT. I also wonder if the front suspension w/ stabilizer link was incorporated in this year. (??)

Rick H. Louie was kind enough to confirm the fact that two different displacement engines existed in the 1984 model year (his '84 is pictured above). He also relayed the following:
Anyway, some info based on ownership.

I have had 2 1984 Coupe GT's and both have had the 2.2 litre engine. My
first was purchased early in the year and my second was a late year
model. The both have the 4 X 100 instead of the 108, which changed in
1985. When I bought my coupes there never was the option of the 2.1
liter engine, and my brochures don't show that option available. I
     believe I have the 093 ratio 5spd.

Both of my coupes have the CIS-E injection. I believe that everything
as far as engine and suspension is the same as your 1985 model.

I will note some differences in the two coupes that I have. The late
model has the updated steering wheel like the ones in the 5000's prior
to the airbag (looked like it could eventually handle an airbag). The
early year model had the steering wheel like your 1982 with the metal
showing. Also, I think that there was an increase in displacement by,
this may sound odd, .001. I don't know where I saw that, but somehow
that sticks out in my mind. I think my mechanic noticed it.
